It’s been years since I had the need for a simple chat messenger client that was FREE and could run on my local area network (LAN) without requiring an internet connection or anything else, just a simple chat client app to chat between workers and office staff. But after searching and trying so many different ones I found a truly Free LAN Messenger Cross-Platform Open Source Chat Client.
When I last used one it was about 15 years ago and there were so many available but it seems these days most of them have become very complicated, clumsy and require you to create accounts and use them through the internet through jabber or im services or they force you to chat through social media platforms like Facebook, Google Talk, Skype etc. But all I want is a free LAN chat client and it must be cross platform.
Turns out there are not many out there anymore, at least not many that actually work properly, in fact let me correct that statement I found only ONE which is open source, completely free and is truly cross platform and that is the BeeBeep Secure Lan Messenger.
BeeBEEP is a peer to peer LAN (local area network) messenger. You can talk and share files with all the people inside a local area network such of an office, home or internet cafe. You don’t need a server, just download, unzip and start it. Simple and fast.
I think the days of truly free software like this are coming to an end but I hope the person that wrote BeeBeep keeps this project alive.
Download it and try it out today, it works great.
